Introduction Shoe Brake Shoe is a most important part in a car braking system. They decelerate or halt the vehicle when you apply the brake pedal. It’s helpful to know how they function, and why keeping them is critical to how well they function.
This ODPS shoe brake shoe is one of the drum braking system on older cars. They're curved metal objects that connect to the inside of the brake drum when you depress the brakes. This resistance helps to slow or even stop the car.
When you push on the brake pedal, pressure increases in the lines. This pressure is what causes the brake shoes to move out against the drum, creating the friction which stops the vehicle. The heavier your foot, the more pressure is applied to the brake shoes causing your car to stop sooner.
Your brake pads should get serviced just like your clothes. The band material will break down over time when used on bra derange shoes. Since they will wear out eventually, you should check them regularly for wear and replace them if they look too worn so that your brakes will still function properly.

How to replace ODPS brake shoes and pads instead of just “throwing” them away? We noticed they were nowhere as worn as the ones on a brake needed to be replaced.

You can replace shoe brake shoes if you are good with tools. Jack up the car and remove the wheel and brake drum first. Next, pull out the springs and the pins of the brake shoes and take it off from the vehicle. Use the same order to put the new brake shoes back in, and tighten everything up before replacing the drum and wheel.

Several different types of shoes are also available (organic, semi-metallic and ceramic). The organic ODPS brake shoes, which are constructed of organic materials, are okay. But semi-metallic brake shoes are a little of both: they have metal in there, and that is what makes them more durable and long lasting. Ceramic brake pads cost the most, but deliver the best performance and wear so far.
