The braking system is very important when it comes to slowing down or stopping a train. Two major components of this mechanism are known as leading and trailing shoes. These shoes make the trains safe and the trains run well.
These ODPS leading and trailing shoes are part of the friction brake on a train. They have helped slow or stop the train when the brakes are activated. Shoes at the front of the train are called the leading shoes, whilst at the rear they are called the trailing shoes. Together, they allow the train to stop in a controlled manner.
When the engineer slowly applies the brakes of a train, they press against the wheel via the leading and trailing shoes. This generates friction that slows the train down by causing the wheels to travel more slowly. It’s the leading shoes that do the majority of braking; the trailing ones also contribute to slowing the train.

Front shoes are designed to take up the majority of the braking force when the brakes are applied. They’re positioned to press against the wheels nicely. ODPS leading trailing shoe work in conjunction with leading shoes to ensure that the train comes to a safe stop.

Leading and trailing shoes are crucial for the safety and performance of trains. Trains simply can’t slow down or stop as well without them which can lead to accidents. Working together, these shoes help keep trains moving and riders safe.

Maintenance of ODPS leading brake shoe and trailing shoes is an important part of giving trains a long life. Recalibration is necessary to ensure these parts are functioning properly. Some of the most common tasks are to check for damage, adjust the brake parts, and replace any pieces that are broken.
